Career MovesRohini VenkateswaranProcter & GambleP&G Korea

Rohini Venkateswaran leaves P&G India sales for P&G Korea. The India–Korea rotation is the career file.

Effective August 1, the former India chief sales officer runs P&G’s Korean unit after two decades across India, the U.S., and the Gulf. For India-corridor readers, the useful stake is Asia market hops, expat tax, and dual-career math, not another Cincinnati boardroom story.

On August 1, Rohini Venkateswaran started as chief executive of P&G Korea. The Korea Herald reported the appointment on August 3. She had been chief sales officer for P&G India. The seat she inherits is a country P&L in one of the company’s most exacting consumer markets, not a ceremonial title.

She succeeds Lee Chee-young, who led the Korean unit for about four years and is moving to head P&G’s skincare business in Greater China. Korean coverage also uses the names Lee Ji-young and titles such as president or general manager for the same local seat. Treat those as one job with local branding. The through-line is P&G’s habit of rotating proven operators into strategic markets.

For India-corridor readers who already saw Shailesh Jejurikar add P&G’s global chairmanship the same weekend, this is the other P&G file. Jejurikar is Cincinnati and the board. Venkateswaran is Seoul and the shelf: Gillette, Downy, Febreze, Pantene, Pampers, Oral-B, SK-II, and the rest of the Korean lineup. The household stake is how Asia-to-Asia moves actually pay, once housing, tax, and a partner’s career are on the same spreadsheet.

Venkateswaran joined P&G India in 2005 after mechanical engineering at RV College of Engineering in Bangalore and management training at SP Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai. Company and trade profiles put her through distributor management, modern trade, sales strategy, e-commerce, and brand work on Olay, Old Spice, and Ambipur. She ran East Gulf markets as a country manager, covering Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar, with UAE sales strategy layered on. A 2023 Middle East leadership list named her among inspirational women in the region. In January 2025 she returned to India as chief sales officer for the Indian Sub-Continent.

The India chapter also put her on a listed board. Gillette India Limited appointed her as an additional executive director effective October 31, 2025, and shareholders later confirmed her as a whole-time director. A company update summarized by TipRanks says she resigned that Gillette India role effective July 31, 2026, as she moved into a senior Korea post, with Gopalakrishnan Kalianna stepping in as sales head. Korean press frames the new job as CEO or president of the local unit. Filing language sometimes says senior vice president. Same move: leave the India sales chair, take the Korea market.

Korea is not a soft landing. Local reporting on P&G Korea Sales’ FY2025 audit put revenue near 754 billion won, down roughly 15 percent year over year, with brands still ubiquitous in hypermarkets and online. Venkateswaran’s statement to Korean media called the market strategically important, with discerning consumers and fast change. That is polite code for a P&L that will not hide behind volume alone.

The money lesson for diaspora professionals offered an India-to-Korea or Gulf-to-Asia hop is ordinary and easy to skip in the congratulations thread. Foreign workers who first start work in Korea by December 31, 2026, can often elect a flat 19 percent income tax on employment income, about 20.9 percent with local surtax, instead of progressive brackets, with trade-offs on deductions. Employer-provided housing is frequently structured as a non-taxable benefit when the company leases correctly. None of that replaces a tax brief. It does mean the offer letter’s housing line and the flat-tax election can matter as much as the headline base.

Dual-career households feel the move differently. A Seoul assignment can raise one résumé and pause another. School calendars, parent support wires to India, and RSUs or Indian-listed director perks do not auto-update when the Business Wire lands. Price the package the way you would any relocation: cash, housing, schooling, home leave, tax equalization or local election, and what happens to the trailing spouse’s earnings.

Venkateswaran’s path is the long P&G apprenticeship in reverse of the Silicon Valley jump: sales floor to Gulf P&L to India sales to Korea. Readers mid-career in FMCG, retail, or consulting can steal the sequence without needing her title. Take a hard commercial skill. Volunteer for a market that scares you. Keep family cash flow written down before the packing crates. The Korea Herald story is a people move. Your spreadsheet is the point.
