Editorial Policy
How we source, review, update, and label content on Generational.
Mission
Generational publishes practical, personality-driven educational content for educated Asian diaspora professionals and families building wealth, supporting parents, and navigating career growth. We aim for clarity without hype, aspiration without struggle-porn, and guidance without prescriptions.
Who we write for
Our readers include first-generation, 1.5-generation, and second-generation professionals with strong incomes and complex family obligations. Some parents need financial support. Some are affluent and need coordination, not cash. We write for both realities and the messy middle between them.
Helpful content standards
We follow the spirit of Google's helpful content guidance: original framing, clear expertise signals, named authors where possible, sourced facts, practical next steps, and pages that would feel useful if printed and handed to a sibling. We avoid thin listicles, anonymous expert quotes, and content that assumes every immigrant family is in crisis.
Sourcing
Guides link to primary sources where possible: government agencies, established consumer finance resources, and reputable institutional publishers. We avoid unsourced statistics, anonymous expert quotes, and sensational claims.
Fact-checking
Editorial review focuses on accuracy of general descriptions, appropriate caveats, and avoidance of individualized advice. Complex topics such as taxes, benefits, and immigration are framed as starting points requiring professional confirmation.
Authors and bylines
Guides display author bylines linked to contributor profiles on /authors. Many guides include an editorial note explaining who the piece is for. Editorial Team bylines indicate staff-written content reviewed against this policy.
Updates
Guides are reviewed on a rolling basis. Flagship guides and high-traffic pages are prioritized for expansion when they fall below our depth standard. Calculator methodologies are reviewed when assumptions or formulas change.
Calculators
Tools are planning aids, not advice engines. They use simplified math and static assumptions. Outputs should support conversations with qualified professionals, not replace them.
Advertising and sponsorship
Advertising and sponsored content will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial recommendations. Sponsors do not review unpublished editorial guides unless clearly marked as sponsored co-created content.
Corrections
