AI Film Club is BC + AI’s monthly Hollywood North room: screenings, technical deep-dives, and creative experiments with AI tools across writing, production, post, and distribution. Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 375 Water Street (Multimodal Media Lab) in Gastown / Waterfront. The series runs on second Thursdays; prior 2026 editions listed evening blocks around 6:30-10:00 PM. Confirm live hours and ticket type on Luma (`film-club`) before you go. Standard tickets sit next to a free BC + AI member tier. Hosts listed include Kevin Friel (Nura Studios filmmaker and VFX artist) and Kris Krüg (creative technologist). The club has screened monthly since June 2025 and is planning a second BC + AI Film Festival for October 2026.

BC + AI Ecosystem Association is a B.C. nonprofit industry association, not a corporate lobby: public-interest infrastructure for AI meetups, working groups, and shared tools. Vancouver AI is the local node. That association track record is why this Thursday still matters when Ascend and HKCBA calendars are dark. Creative BC’s film-and-TV stack is a real Lower Mainland employer; VFX, editors, and production-company reps are the Circuit audience, not a generic AI happy hour. Bring a work-in-progress or a concrete tool question. Laptops are welcome, not required.

Water Street / Gastown is waterfront warehouse geography, a short hop from Waterfront Station, not Richmond and not Coquitlam Town Centre Park. If you only treat Metro Vancouver as Amazon The Post or a Yaletown mixer, you miss where Hollywood North actually talks shop about Runway, ComfyUI, and post workflows. The WhatsApp community around the club is billed around 150 filmmakers and creatives. Treat the screening block as introduction time after the deep-dive, not a cold vendor hour.

RSVP on Luma. Screenshot the ticket and door notes. Waterfront / Gastown evening parking is paid and tight; SkyTrain is the easier hop. Member vs standard pricing is the only split that matters. If Luma shows approval required, wait for the email before you assume walk-up.

This night is right if you work film, VFX, editorial, or creative-tech in the Lower Mainland and want a named association room. GVBOT’s Citytv breakfast on September 1 is the SME media briefing if that was your graph. Leave a sales deck unless you are on the demo slate.
