Exploring the Japanese Job Market: GLOBIS and Dassai

Japan Society of Northern California’s Young Professionals Group hosts Exploring the Japanese Job Market: an evening on paths to working in Japan with GLOBIS University leadership, plus Dassai’s story of bringing junmai daiginjo sake into the US market. After short talks, a fireside chat and Q&A, the rest of the night is networking over Dassai sake and Japanese food. JSNC YPG is the early and mid-career Japan-US professional graph on the Peninsula; GLOBIS and Dassai give the night a jobs-and-market spine instead of an open tasting.

Japan Society of Northern California is the named host; the evening is a YPG program. GLOBIS, founded in 1992 in Tokyo, operates Japan’s largest MBA program and has a US hub in the San Francisco Bay Area. Satoshi Hirose, dean of GLOBIS Graduate School of Management, leads the dean session. Shohei Yamane, president of Dassai USA and an executive director of Dassai Inc., covers Dassai’s US entry and recovery from struggling domestic sales. DASSAI specializes in junmai daiginjo from Yamada Nishiki rice; DASSAI BLUE was born in New York in 2023. Space is limited to 40 people, approval required, with a lottery if registrations exceed the cap and priority for YPG members under 35. Minimum age is 21.
