Tech Transfer Thursdays at the Ion: Digital Health Launch

Hosted by The Ion · Rice, Baylor College of Medicine, and Houston Methodist tech transfer offices

When
August 20, 2026 · 5:30-7:30 PM CDT
Where
The Ion, 4201 Main Street, Houston, TX 77002Houston (Midtown / Ion)

Tech Transfer Thursdays is a new Ion District series aimed at opening university commercialization to founders, corporate innovators, and investors. The August 20, 2026 launch focuses on digital health, with Rice University’s Office of Technology Transfer partnering with Baylor College of Medicine and Houston Methodist tech-transfer teams. Programming mixes TTO booths, a licensing roadmap panel, university startup pitches, and open networking.

Thursday, August 20, 2026, about 5:30-7:30 PM CDT at The Ion, 4201 Main Street. Use the Ion event page for RSVP and any capacity notes. Midtown evening parking and Main Street access are easier than Medical Center for many westside operators, but still plan buffer.

Go if you are hunting university IP, evaluating Houston spinouts, or bridging corporate innovation into TMC-adjacent digital health. Skip if you need ACG middle-market dealmakers or a pan-Asian chamber orientation; those are different graphs the same month. This is denser than a generic Ion happy hour because the hosts are named TTOs with a domain focus.

Bring a crisp problem statement or sector interest, not a cold pitch deck dump. Follow-on months are expected to rotate research institutions and domains; treat August as the series launch, not the only date on the calendar.
