HSBA & HSBF Annual Pau Hana

The HSBA & HSBF Annual Pau Hana is the Hawaii bar’s summer fellowship night—Wednesday, August 19, 2026, 5:30–7:30 PM at The Pacific Club, 1451 Queen Emma Street. Hawaii State Bar Association and Hawaii State Bar Foundation frame food, drinks, entertainment, and introductions while raising money for legal services for people in need. HSBA is the statewide licensed-attorney association—more than 8,000 members on the membership page. HSBF, formed by the bar in 2012 as a 501(c)(3), exists to raise charitable money for access to legal services, civics education, and public-service grants without loading those costs onto bar dues. The foundation’s own line is that it strengthens volunteer legal-aid providers and activates firms that lead by example. A pau hana that funds that work is a different room from a generic Downtown mixer with a drink ticket.

The Pacific Club itself is old Honolulu professional geography: founded in 1851 as The Mess on Maunakea Street, later The British Club, renamed The Pacific Club in 1892, now at 1451 Queen Emma Street. Queen Emma / Downtown is Circuit Honolulu’s law-and-banking spine, a short walk from Bishop Street Coffee Talks. There is no durable Ascend or NAAAP Honolulu chapter on the national calendars mainland metros use, so HSBA nights carry more of the APA lawyer graph than outsiders expect. Hotel in-house counsel, hospital counsel, and government lawyers sit in this room alongside firm associates.

This night is right if you are licensed in Hawaii, in-house on Oahu, or a legal-services professional who can pay a bar-foundation pass. Coffee Talks on August 13 is the $15 chamber seminar if you needed a weekday morning instead. Treat the lanai as fellowship plus a legal-aid gift, not a cold client pitch.
