HJCC Lunchbox: Future of Insurance in Hawaiʻi

Hosted by Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce

When
November 6, 2026 · 11:30 AM-1:00 PM HST
Where
Island Insurance, Oceanit Building, 828 Fort Street Mall, Honolulu, HI 96813Downtown Honolulu

The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce holds Lunchbox Learning and Networking on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Island Insurance in the Oceanit Building, 828 Fort Street Mall in Downtown Honolulu. The panel title is The Future of Insurance in Hawaiʻi: Protecting People, Businesses, and Communities. The host frames rising premiums, climate-related losses, and lending rules that now hinge on coverage. A bento lunch is included.

HJCC is one of Oahu's long-running Japanese business chambers. The Lunchbox series is a weekday working lunch, not a gala. Named speakers on the chamber's LinkedIn notice are Mike Onofrietti of Island Insurance, Tommy Nguyen of Central Pacific Bank, and Scott Saiki, the State of Hawaiʻi Insurance Commissioner, with Zachary Muranaka of Mutual Underwriters moderating. Members pay $20. Non-members pay $25. The RSVP ask on that notice was Friday, October 30. The live registration record may already show no seats. Email eri@hjcc.org before you assume the room is closed.

This is right for Honolulu operators, lenders, and household decision-makers who need a clear read on insurance availability, not a general mixer. Skip it if you wanted a pan-Asian Quad Chamber evening or a junior-chamber leadership gallery night later in the month. Those are different rooms. This one is insurance, banking, and regulation for ninety minutes downtown.

Fort Street Mall is a walk from Ala Moana Transit Center or a short drive into Downtown. Arrive early enough for check-in before 11:30. Island Insurance is the presenting sponsor and the venue. If the checkout page stays sold out, ask Eri Toyama whether a waitlist exists. Do not treat a past RSVP deadline as a guarantee that the panel was canceled.
