The Dallas Asian American Film Festival is a hyperlocal Arts District program showcasing Asian American filmmakers with an Asian Texan focus—organized by the Dallas Asian American Art Collective (DAAART), presented by the Bowdon Family Foundation, and hosted by the Dallas Museum of Art, Crow Museum of Asian Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, and Kessler Studios. Public day is Saturday, August 29, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM: a Pegasus Media Project video workshop at the Crow (11–1, separate Crow RSVP), animated/experimental shorts (1–2), live-action shorts (2:30–4:30), then Sundance 2025 selection Third Act by Tadashi Nakamura plus a conversation with Sylvia Komatsu and Christina Hahn (5–7). All public screenings and the workshop are free with RSVP. Friday Aug 28 Nasher red carpet (6–9 PM) and Saturday Kessler afterparty are invite-only.
Downtown Arts District is not Collin County household geography, but it is where Asian Texan creative professionals actually get a named festival with museum partners—not a Facebook blast. DAAART’s mission is to connect and cultivate the Asian American creative community in Dallas. Director Q&As on the shorts blocks (Laura Hyunjhee Kim, Wendy Cong Zhao, Yeajoon Cho, Huzaifa Ejaz, and others listed on Eventbrite) are the introduction surface if you work media, arts nonprofits, or brand storytelling. Same weekend as Tech Titans in Plano; those are different graphs.
Saturday, August 29, 2026, public program 11:00 AM–7:00 PM. RSVP free on Eventbrite; workshop also needs the Crow RSVP. DMA paid parking is the default—confirm garages on the DMA FAQ. Doors listed 10:30 AM. Under-18 with parent or guardian. Do not show up to Nasher Friday or Kessler Saturday without an invite.
Treat Q&As as conversation, not a reel pitch. If Eventbrite inventory shows sold out, check DAAART or DMA before assuming a walk-up.
This festival day is right if you work film, arts, museums, or Asian Texan creative scenes, or if you want a free public Saturday after a heavy healthcare week. Frisco vendors, TIPS CME, and Legacy tech awards were different badges.
