The Japan America Society of Chicago hosts The Voice of Japanese Business: An Evening with Keidanren USA on Friday, November 20, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Winston Taylor LLP, 300 North LaSalle Street, Suite 4400. Teruko Wada, executive director of Keidanren USA, presents on Keidanren's effort to strengthen the U.S.-Japan economic relationship, then a networking reception follows. JASC members pay $10. Non-members pay $20.
JASC is Chicago's long-running Japan-facing business and cultural society. Keidanren is Japan's major business federation, representing roughly 1,500 leading companies on trade and investment policy. This is a briefing-plus-reception, not a festival night. It sits two days after Ascend Midwest's Diwali at CIBC and is a different corridor graph: Japan corporate, law, and trade density.
Go if your work touches U.S.-Japan business, Japanese corporate clients, or trade policy and you can take a Friday early evening downtown. Skip it if you only wanted the Ascend Diwali social. Register on the Wild Apricot link from the JASC page. Contact the society at 312-263-3049 or info through jaschicago.org if the form fails.
300 North LaSalle is on the river north of the Loop core. Suite 4400 means budget time for lobby security. A 5:00 start on a Friday is workable if you leave by 4:30 from most Loop offices. Bring a card and one clear question about Japan business conditions. The talk is the reason the room exists; the reception is the follow-up.
