Hosted by Atlanta Chinese Dance Company (ACDC)

When
August 15, 2026 · 8:00 PM; August 16, 2026 · 3:00 PM
Where
Emory Performing Arts Studio, 1804 N. Decatur Road, Atlanta, GA 30322Atlanta (Emory / Druid Hills)

Chinese American Journeys is Atlanta Chinese Dance Company’s first full evening of original work centered on Chinese American history—three short dance dramas choreographed by co-artistic director Kerry Lee (Dance/USA Artist Fellow), with co-artistic director Hwee-Eng Lee. Showtimes: Saturday, August 15, 2026, 8:00 PM and Sunday, August 16, 3:00 PM at Emory Performing Arts Studio, 1804 N. Decatur Road. Pieces include Votes for Women (inspired by suffragist Mabel Ping-Hua Lee and the 1912 Fifth Avenue march), Ribbon Dance of Empowerment (growing up Chinese American in the South), and We Belong Here. Movement fuses Chinese dance, contemporary, ballet, and wushu. General admission is about $27; preferred/early-admission seating about $40. Promo codes have circulated (FBOOK15 / ATLANTA15)—confirm live on Zeffy.

Emory’s performing-arts studio sits on Circuit Atlanta’s east-of-Midtown healthcare and university map, not Gwinnett’s Duluth strip. ACDC, founded in 1991, is Georgia’s first nonprofit Chinese dance company, with a track record that includes the 1996 Olympic ceremonies and So You Think You Can Dance. This is a named arts room for Chinese American story, not a Buford Highway dinner. Same weekend some families will look for India Independence festivals that were not locked with 2026 URLs at scrape time—do not assume Gas South Festival of India is on the calendar until IACA posts it.

Saturday, August 15, 8:00 PM or Sunday, August 16, 3:00 PM at Emory PAS. Buy on Zeffy (tinyurl.com/CAJTICKETS redirects here). Emory / N. Decatur evening parking is limited—leave buffer or rideshare. Confirm runtime and late-seating rules in the confirmation email. This is a theater, not a mixer: phones down once the house goes dark.

Bring someone you actually want to talk with after; the lobby is the introduction surface, not the stage.

This evening is right if you work arts, museums, education, or Chinese American community life, or if you want a Circuit culture night after ATW week. USPAACC-SE’s Duluth summit is the chamber awards day. Alpharetta AI demos were earlier in the week.
